The Big 3
It’s a well-known fact that good nutrition is important for new and expectant mothers -- to ensure not only their own health, but the healthy development of their children. But many women are unaware of each key nutrient important to their diet. That’s where the “Big 3” nutrients – folic acid, calcium with vitamin D and DHA Omega-3 – become important. The “Big 3” are considered essential during pregnancy and breastfeeding but according to a recent survey sponsored by the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR), the majority of women only know the importance of two out of three of these nutrients.
